If you are installing an update to XL C/C++, you must first determine whether the compiler has been installed to a default or non-default directory, and then follow the recommended steps for updating that installation type.
If the compiler has been installed to the default directory, /opt/IBM/xlC/13.1.0/, you must follow the steps outlined in the following table, Table 1.
