IBM Maximo Spatial Asset Management, Version 7.6.0.4

Map Manager application

You create maps and configure map services for spatially-enabled applications in the Map Manager application.

Only map services from ESRI ArcGIS Server REST interface are supported. Public REST map services from ArcGIS online are also supported.

By creating maps in this application, you are configuring several services that are used together to create a map. These services exist in external servers, and you must provide URL addresses to these services. The following table shows the services that you can configure.
Table 1. Configurable services
Service Description
Map service You use map services to access a map in spatially-enabled applications.

Each map service must have one or more service layers. Service layers represent a distinct theme on the map, such as aerial photography, roads, sewer lines, and electrical service.

Geometry service The geometry service is used by the drawing tools on the map.
Geocode service The geocode service is used by the Geocoder tool on the map.

You also use this application to select the sites that use each map. A map can be used by one or more sites, but each site can use only one map.

You can use public maps from Bing Maps, OpenStreetMap, and ArcGIS Online as base maps. You configure map tips actions to provide additional feature information that are identified on a map.

The Map Manager application also controls whether GIS features are automatically created on the map for work orders and service requests. You also define the label text and the position of a label for features that are automatically located on the map.
