Preparing to use Podman or Docker by pulling the prebuilt container image

The prebuilt IBM® MQ Advanced image can be pulled from the IBM Container Registry using command line tools, such as Podman or Docker.

Before you begin

Install Podman or Docker.
Note: The following example commands use Podman, but you can use either Podman or Docker with the same command parameters.

Procedure

  1. Get the entitlement key that is assigned to your IBM ID.
    1. Log in to MyIBM Container Software Library with the IBM ID and password that are associated with the entitled software.
    2. In the Entitlement keys section, select Copy key to copy the entitlement key to the clipboard.
  2. Log into the container registry

    For example, using Podman:

podman login --username cp --password ... cp.icr.io
Where "..." is replaced with the entitlement key you copied in the previous step.
  3. Pull the image

    For example, using Podman:

    podman pull cp.icr.io/cp/ibm-mqadvanced-server:9.4.5.0-r1
