Migrating applications to a later version of the product

IBM® MQ applications might require migration between Version 7.1 and the later version.

About this task

For more information see Connection authentication: Configuration.

For a new IBM MQ 8.0 installation, the CONNAUTH CHCKLOCL attribute will be set to OPTIONAL. This means that user IDs and passwords are not required, but if they are provided they must be a valid pair, or they will be rejected.

When you are migrating between IBM WebSphere® MQ 7.1 and a later version, the CONNAUTH CHCKLOCL attribute on each queue manager is set to NONE, ensuring version to version continuity, but switching connection authentication off.
