Monitoring IBM Content Navigator components

The IBM® System Dashboard for Enterprise Content Management includes two main components: the listener and the dashboard. The listener receives a stream of events and other performance information from an IBM Content Navigator application, the IBM Navigator Sync server, or an IBM ECM CMIS application and sends the data to the dashboard for analysis and storage. The listener is the equivalent of an agent in Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP). You can use the dashboard to view trends in performance data.

The dashboard is a client program that processes the data and displays it graphically. The data can be used to monitor performance counter values and user actions, and to fine-tune system performance and troubleshoot problems. The listener waits for a dashboard to connect, to inquire about the performance counter values in the listener, and to determine the health of the application, or to send custom commands and messages back to the listener.
