Configuring document streaming for the IBM Daeja ViewONE Professional Edition viewer (IBM FileNet Content Manager)

When document streaming is enabled, the contents of a document are indexed on the IBM® Content Navigator server. Only the pages that a user views are sent to the IBM Daeja ViewONE Professional Edition viewer. For large documents, this can improve the performance of the web client and of the viewer.

About this task

Document streaming is available for TIFF and PDF files. By default, document streaming is enabled for both types of files. However, document streaming is not appropriate for all environments:
  • If most of the files in your repository are small, document streaming can decrease the performance of the web client and of the viewer.
  • If you have a complex firewall or proxy server configuration in your environment, document streaming might not work.

If you have mostly small documents or a complex proxy server configuration, you can disable document streaming for all of the IBM FileNet® Content Manager repositories in your environment.

Procedure

To configure document streaming:

  1. Open the administration tool in the web client.
  2. Click Settings > FileNet Content Manager.
  3. In the Document streaming configuration for the Daeja ViewOne Professional Edition viewer section, specify whether you want to stream the following types of documents:
    • PDF files
    • TIFF files
