IBM Content Navigator, Version 2.0.3     Supports:  FileNet P8

IBM FileNet P8 workflow configuration roadmap

If you plan to use IBM® FileNet® P8 workflows in IBM Content Navigator, you must complete tasks in several tools and applications. If you do not complete all of the tasks, you cannot access IBM FileNet P8 workflows from the web application.

IBM Content Navigator requires you to have an existing workflow system in your IBM FileNet P8 environment, including an application space and an isolated region. For more information on configuring application spaces and isolated regions, refer to the IBM FileNet P8 documentation.

To enable users to access IBM FileNet P8 workflows from IBM Content Navigator, you must complete the following tasks:
  1. Ensure that you are running a supported version of Process Engine.

For information about supported versions of Process Engine, see Prerequisites for installing IBM Content Navigator.

For more information about installing the client connector files, see Updating the Process Engine client connector files (FileNet P8).

  2. Configure Process Engine for IBM Content Navigator in the IBM Content Navigator Configuration and Deployment Tool.

After you run all of the tasks for your environment, you must deploy the IBM Content Navigator application. For more information, see Configuring Process Engine for IBM Content Navigator (FileNet P8).

Tip: If you have an existing deployment of IBM Content Navigator, you must edit your configuration profile and redeploy the web application. For more information, see Updating a deployment.
  3. Administer Process Engine for IBM Content Navigator, by completing the following tasks in the Process Designer or Process Configuration Console:
    1. Configure the server base URL for IBM Content Navigator. For more information, see Configuring IBM FileNet Process Engine for IBM Content Navigator.
    2. Create an application space for IBM Content Navigator. For more information, see Creating an application space for IBM Content Navigator.
  4. Configure your IBM FileNet Content Manager repositories to specify which Process Engine connection point to use.

For more information, see Configuring access to workflows from an IBM FileNet Content Manager repository

  5. Configure your desktops to include IBM FileNet P8 workflows.

For more information, see Configuring desktops to display IBM FileNet P8 workflows.

  6. Configure your repositories to enable users to add and transfer workflows to your workflow system from the IBM Content Navigator web client.

For more information, see Enabling users to add and transfer workflows through IBM Content Navigator.

  7. If you want to use the document review workflows that are included in the IBM Content Navigator installation media, you must add the predefined workflows to your workflow system.

For more information, see Adding the document review workflows for IBM Content Navigator to your workflow system.

  8. If you enable workflow notifications for a desktop, the desktop users must configure email notifications for workflow events to receive notifications. in the web client Workflow Preferences window.

For more information, see Tips for working in IBM Content Navigator: Setting email notifications for workflow events.
