Using a third-party certificate for web browser sessions

To use a certificate that is signed by a third party (also known as a certificate authority), you must complete multiple steps.

About this task

The following procedures use the standard key and certificate management tool called keytool.

On Linux operating systems, it is located in the /opt/tivoli/tsm/tdpvmware/common/jre/jre/bin/ directory.

On Microsoft Windows operating systems, it is located in the C:\IBM\tivoli\tsm\tdpvmware\webserver\jre\jre\bin directory.

You might need to specify the full path when running keytool from the command line.

Procedure

  1. Obtain access to the keystore.
  2. Create a certificate signing request (CSR).
  3. Send the certifiate signing request to the certificate authority for signing.
  4. Receive the signed certificate into the Data Protection for VMware vSphere GUI.
