Generating the plug-in configuration file

The plug-in configuration file for the Liberty server can be generated automatically, when you run the pluginUtility command, or when you call the WebSphere:name=com.ibm.ws.jmx.mbeans.generatePluginConfig MBean. A supported web server uses the Liberty server plug-in configuration file to forward HTTP requests to one or more application servers.

About this task

When the plug-in configuration file is generated automatically, the file is named plugin-cfg.xml. You might not need to generate the plug-in configuration file manually, but if you do so, you can optionally give the plug-in configuration file a different file name.

If you require a single plug-in configuration file for multiple application servers, obtain a plug-in configuration file for each server as described in this procedure, and then merge them into a single file by using the merge action.

To generate the plug-in configuration file manually, choose one of the following options:

Procedure

  • Run the pluginUtility command.
  • Call the WebSphere:name=com.ibm.ws.jmx.mbeans.generatePluginConfig MBean.
