Master setup disk

Every product is packaged and delivered differently. Some products provide a master setup disk, a prepackaged collection of offerings that is contained on a single disk. The master setup disk, which contains a table of contents that lists the offerings that are included on the disk, references other disk sets to install multiple offerings. You cannot add offerings to the prepackaged master setup disk. However, you can omit offerings by not downloading and extracting them.

To use a master setup disk to install multiple offerings:

1. Download the master setup disk and all of the offering-specific disk sets.

   If you have an IBM® Passport Advantage® account, you can download the master setup disk from the Passport Advantage site.

2. Extract the ESD images into a common root directory. The system automatically generates a subdirectory structure that is similar to this structure:

   
   Master_Setup
   SubdirectoryForOfferingA/disk1/
   SubdirectoryForOfferingA/disk2/
   SubdirectoryForOfferingB/disk1/

   where the names of the subdirectories that contain the offerings are short names of the offerings.

   Example:

   
   RAD_Setup
   rtc_600/disk1/
   rtc_600/disk2/
   rad_950/disk1/

   The Master_Setup directory usually contains the 'setup' string so that you can identify the folder that is related to the master setup disk.

3. Go to the Master_Setup directory and complete one of the following actions:
   • If the directory contains the launchpad program, double-click Launchpad to start the installation.
   • If the directory does not contain the launchpad program, start Installation Manager and add the master setup disk path as a repository location. Then, click Install.
