Configuring access to native VSAM

No modifications are required to configure the SQL interface for native VSAM. However, you should verify that the server has access to native VSAM.

About this task

IBM® z/OS® Mainframe Data Service for Apache Spark provides seamless, real-time controlled access to native VSAM. It allows JDBC access from Spark programs to native VSAM data in a relational model without host programming.

To configure access to native VSAM, complete the following tasks:

  1. Configuring the server started task JCL
    No modifications are required.
  2. Modifying the server configuration member
    No modifications are required.
  3. Configuring VSAM
    No modifications are required.
  4. Verifying access to native VSAM
    Verify native VSAM data access by creating a sample VSAM file and a corresponding virtual table and running a query that accesses the VSAM data.
