Adding an instance

You can add an instance in Streams Studio.

About this task

The Add Instance command adds an instance that you do not own (but can access) to the Instances folder. You use this feature to enable submitting jobs to and monitoring shared instances.

Procedure

To add an instance, select the Instances folder and right-click.
From the menu, select Add Instance.
In the Add Instance window, do the following steps:
1. In the Instance Name field, choose an instance from the list of all instances that you have access to. The instance is added to the Instances folder, and you can interact with it the same way as the instances you already own.
2. Click OK.

Results

The instance is added in Streams Studio.

Note: Certain commands might result in an error when you are not authorized to run those commands on the instance. If an IBM® Streams instance is shared by multiple users, all users must have access to the required instance owner directories. The instance ID is persisted when Streams Studio shuts down and is added to the Instances folder during startup when Streams Studio is started again.
