Upgrading Rational Test Workbench

When a new version of IBM® Rational® Test Workbench is available, you can upgrade your existing software installation to the new version. You might also be required to migrate your data to the new version.

Before you begin

Before you upgrade any software, read the release notes for the release to learn about any conditions or requirements for the upgrade. In general, you can upgrade from earlier versions of the software to the most recent version without having to uninstall the software.
Important:

You can upgrade Rational Integration Tester and Rational Test Control Panel packages from any release of the 8.7 version directly to 9.0 version. For versions earlier than 8.7, you must uninstall the existing package including the Rational Integration Tester Platform Pack and then install the version 9.0 package.   • Upgrading the software
    When a new version of software becomes available, you can perform an upgrade. Use IBM Installation Manager to update the software installation.
  • Rational Integration Tester upgrade information and requirements
    Before you upgrade IBM Rational Integration Tester, review the upgrade considerations. To complete the upgrade process, you might also need to upgrade the schema of the Rational Integration Tester project results database.

    Before you upgrade IBM Rational Test Control Panel, learn about the general and release-specific considerations and instructions for the upgrade
  • Migrating performance test assets
    After upgrading IBM Rational Performance Tester to a new version, when you open the product you are prompted to migrate test projects, tests, schedules, rules, and reports. Tests and schedules are migrated automatically when you modify and save them.
  • Migrating functional test assets
    After upgrading IBM Rational Functional Tester to a new version, it is recommended to migrate the test assets so that you can play back the test scripts that were recorded with the earlier version.
