The Network IPS appliance monitors the security of the
network by providing you with dashboards, activity graphs, and statistical
data pages.
Home, monitoring the dashboard
The Appliance Dashboard provides useful
statistics about the Network IPS appliance, such as health, top attacks,
memory, and interface status.
Monitor health and statistics
The Monitor Health and Statistics area
provides overall status information about your network and the Network
IPS appliance. Use the information to analyze network performance
and bandwidth (reported in bytes/second), the amount and type of traffic
(reported in packets/second), statistics for network drivers and PAM
(Protocol Analysis Module), and for specific information about appliance
hardware and software.
Monitoring network performance
Use the graphs and
statistics in the Network area
to analyze the performance of the Network IPS appliance and to troubleshoot
possible bandwidth issues in your network.
Monitoring security
Use the graphs and statistics in the Security area
to analyze the security status of the Network IPS appliance. You can
view event names and source IP addresses that are attacking your network,
view the target IP addresses that are being attacked, and view the
comparisons of total and blocked packets/attacks.
Monitoring the system
Use the graphs and statistics in the System area
to view specific information about the Network IPS appliance and its
memory and partitions.
Capacity planning
Use throughput graphs, driver statistics, and the SNMP
GET request from the Network IPS appliance to gather information for
capacity planning.
