Loading deployment descriptors

Use this procedure to load your deployment descriptors to the z/TPF system with the E-type loader.

About this task

You can use the E-type loader or the image loader to load your deployment descriptors. This procedure is an example of how to load the descriptor files with the E-type loader.

Procedure

  1. On Linux, create an offline loader input file that defines where to find the deployment descriptors on Linux and where to place them on the z/TPF system.

    The following example shows the contents of an offline loader file called ddfiles.list:

  2. On Linux, generate the OLDR format loader output file by entering the loadtpf command with the input file that you created in step 1 specified.

    For example, loadtpf ddfiles.list.

    The following messages are displayed. In this example, the files are transferred automatically to the z/TPF system based on a LOADTPF_IP parameter that is specified in the maketpf.cfg file.

  3. On the z/TPF system, define a path to the directory where the OLDR format output file resides by entering the ZDSMG DEFINE command.

    For example, ZDSMG DEFINE CMDEPLOY PATH='/mytpf/mydir.oldr'.

  4. On the z/TPF system, load the loadset to the system by entering the ZOLDR LOAD command.

  5. On the z/TPF system, activate the loadset by entering the ZOLDR ACTIVATE command.

    For example, ZOLDR ACTIVATE DESCRIPT.

  6. On the z/TPF system, remove the data definition name that was previously defined by entering the ZDSMG RELEASE command.

    For example, ZDSMG RELEASE CMDEPLOY.

Results

All deployment descriptors that are specified in the loader input file are loaded to the /sys/tpf_pbfiles/tpf-fdes directory on the z/TPF system. Additionally, any deployment descriptor that is listed in the common deployment configuration file with the automatic deployment indicator set to YES is automatically deployed.

What to do next

To deploy any deployment descriptors that were not defined to automatically deploy, enter the ZMDES command with the DEPLOY parameter specified.

You can display all deployment descriptors that are currently deployed by entering ZMDES DISPLAY. For example:
