Operator procedures for TCP/IP native stack support

Configuring a z/TPF system
Use this procedure to configure your z/TPF system for TCP/IP support.
Enabling TCP/IP native stack support
To enable TCP/IP native stack support, code the appropriate SNAKEY macro parameters in CTK2.
Local IP addresses
Your network administrator must assign at least one IP address to each z/TPF host that connects to an IP network. If a z/TPF host connects to only one IP network, only one IP address is needed for the z/TPF host. However, you can assign multiple IP addresses to a z/TPF host even if the z/TPF host connects to only one IP network.
Types of z/TPF local IP addresses
The types of local IP addresses include Channel Data Link Control (CDLC) addresses, real OSA IP addresses, and virtual IP addresses (VIPAs).
CDLC IP connections
After you have defined the local IP addresses for your z/TPF system, you must define the IP routers.
OSA-Express connections
An OSA-Express connection refers to the z/TPF interface to an OSA-Express adapter or a Network Express adapter within the processor.
Gateways
Typically, a gateway is a router that connects networks.

Configuration examples
The configuration examples illustrate the commands to set up a typical z/TPF network environment by using virtual IP addresses (VIPAs).
z/TPF IP routing table
To connect the z/TPF system to multiple TCP/IP networks, you can use the IP routing table (IPRT). You can set up IPRT entries to associate local IP addresses with a remote IP address or subnet of addresses. When you use OSA-Express support, you can also set up IPRT entries to associate remote networks and the gateways to them.

With the IP trace function, you can trace some or all IP packets that are sent and received by the z/TPF system. The information is saved in the main storage copy of the IP trace table and optionally written to the real-time tape to be processed offline.

The ZTTCP DISPLAY STATS command display shows the number of IP fragments received.
Performance
There are counters that provide information about the number of messages, bytes, and packets sent and received for each Internet service. This information is provided in the reports that are generated by data collection and reduction.
