Software prerequisites

Prerequisite software must be installed in your environment before you install and configure IBM Service Management Unite. Prerequisite checks are run automatically at various points in the installation process.

Prerequisites for the Service Management Unite server:

If you install IBM Service Management Unite using the Docker image, you don't need to manually install the following prerequisites because they are included in the image. For more information about the requirements for Docker installation, see Docker requirements.

If you install IBM Service Management Unite using the native installation package, you must install the following products before you install the IBM Service Management Unite components. Visit the download portal at http://ibm.biz/smu-ee-download to get the installation package.

  • Jazz® for Service Management V1.1.3.8, including Dashboard Application Services Hub (DASH) V3.1.3
    Note:
    • To use IBM Service Management Unite V1.1.8.0 or V1.1.8.1, you must update DASH to at least fix pack 8 and apply interim fix 1 after you install the base package from the download page.

    • To use IBM Service Management Unite V1.1.8.2 or later, you must upgrade DASH to fix pack 10, which fixes some known issues.

    • Ensure that your existing environment meets current Jazz for Service Management requirements including prerequisites like the IBM Installation Manager. For more information about the requirements, see Detailed system requirements for Linux®.
  • WebSphere® Application Server V8.5.5.16 or later, including WebSphere Application Server Java™ SDK V1.8
    Note:
    • To use IBM Service Management Unite V1.1.8.0 or V1.1.8.1, you must update the WebSphere Application Server with fix pack 16 or later versions after you installed the base package from the download page.

    • To use IBM Service Management Unite V1.1.8.2 or later, you must update the WebSphere Application Server with fix pack 19 after you installed the base package from the download page.

  • Korn Shell.

Backend prerequisites for IBM Service Management Unite Automation:

To make product data available to Service Management Unite Automation, you must install the following products and adapters, as applicable to your environment:
  • IBM System Automation for z/OS V4.1 with APAR OA58444 installed or IBM Z® System Automation V4.2
  • Z System Automation end-to-end adapter
  • Universal Automation Adapter
  • IBM NetView for z/OS V6.2.1 (for base support of System Automation dashboards) or IBM Z NetView V6.3 (for NetView REST service supporting NetView dashboards)
  • Korn Shell

Backend prerequisites for IBM Service Management Unite Performance Management:

To make product data available to Service Management Unite Performance Management, you must install the following products with supported versions, as applicable to your environment:
  • Functioning ITM infrastructure at ITM 6.3 FP6 level, or later.
  • Monitoring products (all or a subset of the following products):
    • IBM Tivoli® Composite Application Manager Agent for WebSphere Applications V7.2.0 IF5, or later
    • IBM OMEGAMON® for Storage on z/OS® V5.4.0, or later
    • IBM OMEGAMON for JVM on z/OS (OMEGAMON for JVM) , V5.4.0 or later
    • IBM Tivoli OMEGAMON XE for CICS® on z/OS V5.3.0, or later
    • IBM Tivoli OMEGAMON XE for DB2® PE and PM on z/OS V5.3.0, or later
    • IBM Tivoli OMEGAMON XE for IMS on z/OS V5.3.0, or later
    • IBM Tivoli OMEGAMON XE for Messaging for z/OS V7.3.0, or later.
    • IBM Tivoli OMEGAMON XE on z/OS V5.3.0 with PTF UA80391 Fix Pack, 5.3.0-TIV-KM5-FP0003, or later
    • IBM Tivoli OMEGAMON XE on Mainframe Networks V5.3.0, or later
    • IBM Operations Analytics - Log Analysis V1.3.2
  • Tivoli Directory Integrator (TDI) V7.1.1 + Fix Pack 4, or later
  • Tivoli Enterprise Portal Server and IBM Operations Analytics - Log Analysis V1.3.1 integration enabled in PARMGEN
  • OMEGAMON for z/OS and IBM Operations Analytics - Log Analysis V1.3.1 integration PTFs for the following agents:

Backend prerequisites for IBM Service Management Unite Workload Scheduler:

The IBM Service Management Unite Workload Scheduler component provides dashboards to manage your IBM Z Workload Scheduler (ZWS) environment together with resources that are automated by IBM Z System Automation. The Dynamic Workload Console (DWC) is a web-based graphical user interface for ZWS and also provides an application programming interface (API) to the ZWS environment.

Install the following products with supported versions, as applicable to your environment:

  • Dynamic Workload Console V9.5 or later
  • IBM Workload Scheduler for z/OS V9.3 or later

Other products that IBM Service Management Unite integrates with

  • Zowe™

    Zowe is a z/OS based open source framework providing new interfaces to interact with z/OS. IBM Service Management Unite can leverage and integrate with an installed Zowe environment.   • IBM Z Service Management Explorer

    IBM Z Service Management Explorer (IZSME) is a web-based replacement for the Tivoli Enterprise Portal (TEP). IBM Service Management Unite is integrated with IZSME to offer another option to view detailed z/OS data.   • IBM Z ChatOps

    IBM Z ChatOps leverages and integrates with IBM Service Management Unite for a broad access to IBM Z operations data. Chat users can drill-down from chatbot output to the Service Management Unite dashboards with more information to help resolve problems fast. In addition, you can copy links to the resources that are displayed in the Service Management Unite dashboards and paste the links in supported chat tools where Z ChatOps is enabled to get an overview of the resources directly in chat tools.
