Installing prerequisite hardware and software for WML for z/OS IDE

WML for z/OS uses both IBM® proprietary and open source technologies and requires prerequisite hardware and software. If you plan to extend WMLz base by installing WMLz IDE in the Linux® on Z or Linux environment, make sure that you procure, install, and configure the prerequisites.

Prerequisites for WMLz IDE on Linux on Z

  • 1 (for single-node configuration) or 3 (for three-node configuration) s390x 64-bit servers that run on an LPAR of a z15™, z14, z13®, z13s®, zEnterprise® EC12, LinuxOne Emperor, or LinuxOne Rockhopper system. Make sure that the system and required secondary storage are configured with the capacity you've planned. See Planning system capacity for WML for z/OS IDE for details.
  • Red Hat® Enterprise Linux Server 7.7, 7.6, or 7.5. For Red Hat 7.6, make sure that IPv6 is enabled. If IPv6 must be disabled, rebuild the initramfs as described in rpcbind fails to start with IPv6 disabled.
  • openJDK 1.8.0 or later. See Downloading and installing prebuilt OpenJDK packages for instructions.
