Preparing for WML for z/OS installation

IBM Watson Machine Learning for z/OS consists of integrated systems and services that run on different platforms. Thorough planning and preparation can help minimize costly errors during installation and shorten the lead time to get WML for z/OS up and running for production.

Procedure

Installation planning involves multiple sequences of tasks that are best performed by people in different roles, each with a unique set of skills and authorities. The roles of z/OS® system programmer or administrator, Linux on Z, and Linux system administrator are required. While the roles of database administrator, security administrator, network administrator, and UNIX shell programmer are optional, their skills and knowledge are much wanted. Complete the following essential tasks to prepare for the installation and configuration of WML for z/OS:

  1. Choosing an installation option (by z/OS, Linux on Z, and Linux system administrators).
  2. Planning system capacity (by z/OS, Linux on Z, or Linux system administrators).
  3. Creating user IDs and assigning permissions (by z/OS system administrators).
