Managing change and releases for shared artifacts

Use the Configuration Management application to manage change to artifacts in a collaborative development environment. Managing change includes setting up unique working environments for individuals or teams, creating baselines of projects at specific points in time, reviewing and approving changes to artifacts, and making changes visible to other teams or individuals.

Before you begin

Ensure that you are familiar with project areas, configuration spaces, baselines, streams, and change sets, which are described in Management of shared resources.

About this task

In a serial development environment, you share one stream with other team members.

In a parallel development environment, you and your team members might have individual streams whose contents are derived from a common stream. To make changes in your stream visible to other team members, you deliver your changes to the common stream, which is also called a flow target. Then, from the common stream, your team members can accept those changes into their own streams to ensure that they have the most recent versions of artifacts.
