Checking OneDrive for Business Connector Default Seed Settings

After you initially configure the OneDrive for Business connector to crawl user profiles, several default seed settings may not be appropriately set for your OneDrive environment. To check these settings, navigate to the Crawling Configuration page of your search collection in the Watson™ Explorer Engine administration tool. In the Configuration tab of your search collection, select the Seeds section. Check, or edit, the following settings in the "User Profiles" section:

  • Public access control group name - Be sure that Public access control group name is set to the desired security group. By default, Public access control group name is set to Everyone but can be configured to search any authenticated user groups.
  • Base URL for OneDrive for Business Sites - A default URL for crawling OneDrive for Business sites: Default: %FIRST_SEED%
  • Base URL for linking to user profiles - A default URL for retrieving OneDrive for Business user profiles: Default: %FIRST_SEED%/MySite/Person.aspx
Note: The Base URL is used by the OneDrive for Business connector to display URLs in search results. You will need to add your own custom URL to seed your User Profiles if the URL is different from the default one provided (e.g., if instead of "MySite" your SharePoint installation uses a different naming convention such as EmployeeSite. If so, then your SharePoint URLs for User Profiles would need to be added into the User Profile seed URL.
