Managing UIMA types

You can use the type catalog to manage UIMA types in your workspace.

About this task

In a complex workspace, it can be difficult to remember where you defined a particular type. For example, you might remember that you wrote a parsing rule that identified a person but you cannot remember in which file the type is defined. You can use the type catalog to search for and display the details of UIMA types in your workspace, such as which Content Analytics Studio resources creates the type, which features are associated with the type, and which other resources in the workspace reference or use that type.

You can also use the type catalog to rename types. As your domain extraction model develops, you might redefine some of the components of the model and need to rename an annotation. Because types are often referenced in many resources in your workspace, all of the resources that create or use the type must be updated together to maintain the consistency of your workspace. You can ensure that the types are renamed consistently by using the type catalog.

Restriction: You can rename only types that are associated with linguistic resources that you created in Content Analytics Studio. You cannot rename other types, such as built-in system types or types from third-party annotators that you imported into Content Analytics Studio.
