To test whether the form information that you specified in Configuring Form-Based Authentication is sufficient to crawl the remote resource
that is associated with your search collection, initiate a crawl of that resource. To initiate
a crawl:
- Select the Overview tab for your search collection
- If the Live Status section of this screen shows that any data has already been
processed for this collection, click delete data to purge that data.
Click Delete on the confirmation pop-up that displays.
- Click start to begin the crawl.
One of two things will happen as Watson Explorer Engine attempts to crawl the remote
resource:
- If the crawl starts successfully and an increasing number of Complete URLs displays
in the Crawling section of this screen, your current form definition is sufficient to
satisfy the resource's form-based authentication requirements, and you can proceed to Restoring a Production Configuration.
- If the crawl starts successfully but only crawls a small number of URLs before going idle,
you will need to debug the crawl and look for additional forms or JavaScript submissions
that you must add to the form handler that you began to configure in Configuring Form-Based Authentication. Proceed to Enabling HTTP Debugging for more information.
