Connections from desktop Process Designer to IBM Workflow Server (deprecated)

Desktop Process Designer uses the Workflow Server settings that are stored in Workflow Center to initially connect to the online process servers by using HTTP connections.
The URLs that desktop Process Designer uses in an HTTP connection are determined by the Workflow Server endpoint configuration, which is loaded after the initial connection. By default, desktop Process Designer uses the generic scenario EXTERNAL_CLIENT for all URLs to access Workflow Server. For information about setting this endpoint, see the topic Customizing Business Automation Workflow to work with a web server.
If a different endpoint scenario is required, then you can use the following group of optional scenarios, which take precedence over the EXTERNAL_CLIENT:
  • AE_TO_PS
  • PROCESS_CENTER
  • AE_IMAGES_PREFIX
  • AE_PORTAL_PREFIX
  • AE_WEBAPI_PREFIX
  • AE_SERVLET_PREFIX
  • AE_BPM_REST_SERVICE_CR_PREFIX
  • AE_SOCIALBUS_WEBAPP_PREFIX
  • AE_REST_GATEWAY_CR_PREFIX
Note: If your network is set up in a way that causes timeouts rather than a prompt error when desktop Process Designer fails to connect to an online server, the setup can lead to performance issues in building the list of online servers in desktop Process Designer.

Information about using scenario keys to configure the IBM® Business Automation Workflow endpoints is described in the topic Configuring endpoints to match your topology.
