Integrating IBM case analytics tools

Case analytics tools can help you monitor and manage your daily business operations. The tools can also provide historical trend information that enables you to adjust future operations as needed. This information can help you discover new business patterns and trends, and to identify new business opportunities.

About this task

The following tools use the data that is extracted by the Case Analyzer services from case management solutions:
  • IBM® FileNet® Case Monitor
  • Case Analyzer Excel Reports
  • IBM Cognos® Business Intelligence

With the data extracted by Case Analyzer services, you can generate real-time reports and historical data analysis by analyzing case, task, and workflow events. The Case Analyzer component integrates with IBM Cognos Business Intelligence to provide web-based analytic and reporting capabilities. It also supports using Microsoft Excel as a thick client-based analytic and reporting solution.

IBM FileNet Case Monitor provides the capability to collect and report on case-specific events and metrics. It integrates with IBM Cognos Real-time Monitoring.

For a high availability environment, you must install IBM Cognos Real-time Monitoring the same way on both a primary and secondary node. Each installation must be on separate physical servers. Only the primary node is started. An HTTP load balancer or proxy is used to detect which node is active and automatically directs user traffic to the active node. If the active node is offline, the passive node is started and is automatically detected by the load balancer.

The Case Analyzer service, which is a background task in the Content Platform Engine, collects data from the workflow system event logs and the object store audit log. The service stores the information in a database that is used by IBM Cognos Real-time Monitoring and IBM Cognos Business Intelligence reports.
