IBM z/OS Connect overview
The IBM® z/OS Connect offering is a Liberty feature that encapsulates calling z/OS target applications using REST (Representation State Transfer) calls.
Using z/OS Connect REST APIs
z/OS Connect provides a set of RESTful APIs that you can use to discover services, check service status, start or stop services, get statistics, and other operations.

z/OS Connect provides the com.ibm.wsspi.zos.connect.Service SPI that supports the creation of service providers that you can use to process requests arriving in to the z/OS Connect servlet.

To process incoming requests, you can create a z/OS connect service at run time by using the com.ibm.wsspi.zos.connect.ServiceController service programming interface (SPI).
Creating a z/OS Connect interceptor
Use z/OS Connect SPI to create interceptor preInvoke and postInvoke implementations that manage service requests such as invoke, status, start, and stop. Interceptors are OSGi services that implement the com.ibm.wsspi.zos.connect.Interceptor SPI provided by z/OS Connect.
Creating a z/OS Connect data transformer
You can use the z/OS Connect SPI to create a custom data transformer. Data transformers are OSGi services that implement the com.ibm.wsspi.zos.connect.DataXform SPI that is provided by z/OS Connect.
Conversion for z/OS Connect data transformation
The z/OS Connect feature runs in a WebSphere® Application Server for z/OS, Liberty environment. You can use the BBGLS2JS and BBGJS2LS Job Control Language (JCL) tools to generate the necessary z/OS Connect artifacts to facilitate data conversion.

Audit and track requests with z/OS® Connect, which includes an interceptor that records data to the z/OS SMF data store.
