Adding a snippet to a template

Snippets are templates that contain commonly used template elements. You can add snippets to an open template to avoid creating the same types of content from scratch each time you want to use it.

About this task

The product provides snippets in Publishing Document Builder and in the PUB_install_dir\snippets directory.

Procedure

  1. From the Palette view, select and drag a snippet into the template content editor.
  2. If there is conflicting information between the snippet and the template, the Insert Snippet wizard opens.
  3. Edit the conflicting information:
    • To use the information from the template, click Use Existing Item For Conflicts As Allowed.
    • To edit the conflicting information, click Edit, modify the value, and then click OK.
  4. After you resolve the conflicts, click Finish.
