Upgrading firmware or hardware

You upgrade your appliance by upgrading the firmware. You might also want to upgrade appliance hardware, for example moving from an M2000 or M2001 appliance to an M2002 appliance.

There are various pathways through upgrading firmware, depending on whether you are upgrading standalone, high availability, or disaster recovery systems, and whether you are upgrading to a new major version (that is, from IBM® MQ 8.0 or 9.0 to 9.1).

Similarly, there are various pathways through upgrading hardware, mainly depending on whether you have high availability or Disaster recovery systems and need to stay operational during the upgrade.

Note: Support for IBM MQ Appliance 9.1 is due to end in September 2021. IBM MQ Appliance 9.2 is available to upgrade to, see the IBM MQ Appliance 9.2 information in IBM Documentation.
