No matter whether your business is booming or you're just taking off, you'll need a place to create and manage all your websites. Acoustic Content features a bunch of website management tools including site creation, site management, inline and in-place composing, and more. Plus, we've included working samples of live websites in your hub that are ready to customize and make your own or use as examples to learn from.
Website creation features
Try out our sample template to create your first site by clicking websites from the ribbon. Our sample template includes starter pages built from our ready-to-go content model that is shared across all the sites you create.
When you preview our template, you will find sample content, such as text and images, to illustrate the possibilities. This content does not get built into sites that you create from the sample template because your sites are reserved for your content. After your site is created and edit mode is enabled in the site preview, composers will discover placeholder, starter text to guide them as they author content in different sections of the page. Your site administrator or manager can always tweak the starter text to make more sense for your business.
Template creation
After you explore the sample template, create other templates by either copying and modifying existing templates, or by using other websites created in your hub as the start of new templates for future sites.
Domains
When you're ready to publish your draft site, don't forget to map your site to a custom domain. One domain mapping is included as part of your Standard Edition subscription. You can purchase add-ons to map more custom domains to the sites that you create. An individual domain can be mapped to only one site. Your site administrator adds more custom domain mappings through the Hub setup area, and business users can map domains to sites by editing site settings. Before publishing a site, a default domain is used instead.
- Create nice and short URLs. Your site application gets served from the root URL context root of your domain to create URLs that are easy to remember.
- Improve SEO rankings for site. Search engines will discover crawling information (like
robots.text and sitemap.xml) in the root context of your domain. Note: The sitemap files are automatically created and published for your site. You can modify these sitemap files or add new files. For more information, see Augmenting sitemaps with Acoustic content
Updating features in your website samples
As new features are added to Acoustic Content, sometimes you need to update website samples to the most recent version to enable the new features. If you choose to enable these features, you must download the site content from the About page and install it manually. To find out whether you need to update the sample, check the version of the Oslo sample site that is installed in your hub and compare it to the recent version available.
