Web Edition differences

Some of the more minor user interface functions, for example the Notes and Heap Dump History views, are not available in the Web Edition of IBM® Monitoring and Diagnostic Tools for Java™ - Memory Analyzer. Some other user interface functions are available, but are accessed in a different way.

User interface functions that are not supported

The following functions are not available in the Web Edition:
  • The compare function and the Compare Basket view
  • The Heap Dump History view
  • The Notes view
  • Integrated help content. Help is still available, but it is not part of the product.
  • Pop-up menus when you move the mouse over pie-chart sections
  • Keyboard shortcuts
  • The quick search function
  • Autocompletion of class names in the OQL Editor pane
  • The File menu. This menu is not required in the Web Edition.
  • The Preferences menu
  • Viewing thread stack frames as pseudo-objects, or methods as pseudo-classes
  • Disabling the Getting Started wizard
  • Including unreachable objects when Memory Analyzer parses the heap dump
  • The exit function. You cannot exit and release all the resources that are in use, although you can release some resources by closing the heap editor window before you close the browser window. The remaining resources are released only by a session timeout.
  • The use of multiple browser instances, or multiple browser tabs, per session
  • Opening multiple dump files
  • Report transfer. You cannot transfer reports from one server to another if the context root is different. Reports do not remain valid if the context root is changed on the same server.
  • The ability to install extensions to the product, for example IBM Extensions for Memory Analyzer

Other user interface changes

The following functions are available in the Web Edition, but are different.
  • The Windows menu contains options that are listed under the Views menu in other editions.
