iSeries Installation (V5.2.3 - 5.2.5)

You may follow different installation and upgrade scenarios when you install and upgrade Sterling B2B Integrator V5.2.0 - 5.2.5 in an iSeries environment.

Installation Scenarios for Version 5.2.5

Important: Review the following Sterling B2B Integrator installation and upgrade scenarios.
Scenario Instructions
Version 5.2.4.1 or lower is installed as the base release and must be upgraded to version 5.2.5 on an iSeries installation that uses the IBM® i V5R4 operating system.
  1. To upgrade to 5.2.5, see Installing Sterling B2B Integrator version 5.2.5 on iSeries as a fix pack.
  2. Do one of the following tasks:
    • Upgrade your iSeries installation to the V7R1 or V7R2 operating system.
    • Move the Sterling B2B Integrator instance to iSeries with the V7R1 or V7R2 operating system installed.

    Also, you must upgrade your JDK version from the Classic JDK 1.6 to the J9 JDK 1.7. For instructions, see Updating your JDK on iSeries.
Version 5.2.4.2 or lower is installed as the base release and must be upgraded to version 5.2.5 on an iSeries installation that uses the IBM i V6R1 operating system.
  1. To upgrade to 5.2.5, see Installing Sterling B2B Integrator version 5.2.5 on iSeries as a fix pack.
  2. Do one of the following tasks:
    • Upgrade your iSeries installation to the V7R1 or V7R2 operating system.
    • Move the Sterling B2B Integrator instance to iSeries with the V7R1 or V7R2 operating system installed.

    Also, you must upgrade your JDK version from the Classic JDK 1.6 to the J9 JDK 1.7. For instructions, see Updating your JDK on iSeries.
Version 5.2.3 - 5.2.4.2 is installed as the base release and must be upgraded to version 5.2.5 on an iSeries installation that uses the IBM i V7R1 operating system.
  1. To upgrade to 5.2.5, see Installing Sterling B2B Integrator version 5.2.5 on iSeries as a fix pack.
  2. If you are currently using J9 JDK 1.6, you must upgrade your JDK to J9 JDK 1.7. For instructions, see Updating your JDK on iSeries.
Version 5.2.3 - 5.2.4.2 is installed as the base release and must be upgraded to version 5.2.5 on an iSeries installation that uses the IBM i V7R2 operating system.
  1. To upgrade to 5.2.5, see Installing Sterling B2B Integrator version 5.2.5 on iSeries as a fix pack.
  2. Do one of the following tasks:
    • Upgrade your iSeries installation to the V7R2 operating system.
    • Move the Sterling B2B Integrator instance to iSeries with the V7R2 operating system installed.

    If you are currently using J9 JDK 1.6, you must upgrade your JDK to J9 JDK 1.7. For instructions, see Updating your JDK on iSeries.

Installation Scenarios for versions 5.2.3 - 5.2.4

Important: Review the following Sterling B2B Integrator installation and upgrade scenarios.
Scenario Instructions
Version 5.2.3.0 is being installed as the base release. Review this document and use the installation instructions in Install the Software.
Version 5.2.3.0 or lower is installed as the base release and it needs to be upgraded to the 5.2.3.x - 5.2.4.1 level. Follow the Installing Sterling B2B Integrator version 5.2.3 - 5.2.4.2 as a fix pack instructions that are provided in Install the Software.
Version 5.2.3.0 or lower is installed and it needs to be upgraded to the 5.2.4.2 level on an iSeries using IBM i (i5/OS) V5R4.
Note: This scenario requires an operating system upgrade. Sterling B2B Integrator 5.2.4.2 or higher is not supported on IBM i V5R4. After you install the Sterling B2B Integrator 5.2.4.2 fix pack, you must either upgrade your operating system or move your Sterling B2B Integrator instance to an iSeries using IBM i V6R1 or V7R1.
  1. Follow the Installing Sterling B2B Integrator version 5.2.3 - 5.2.4.2 as a fix pack instructions that are provided in Install the Software to upgrade to the 5.2.4.2 level.
  2. Upgrade your iSeries to IBM i V6R1 or V7R1, or move your Sterling B2B Integrator instance to an iSeries with the IBM i V6R1 or V7R1 operating system installed. You also must upgrade your JDK version from the Classic JDK 1.6 to the J9 JDK 1.6. See the Sterling B2B Integrator 5.2.3 or higher iSeries Environment Upgrade documentation for instructions.
Version 5.2.3.0 or lower is installed as the base release and it needs to be upgraded to the 5.2.4.2 level on an iSeries using IBM i V6R1.
  1. Follow the Installing Sterling B2B Integrator version 5.2.3 - 5.2.4.2 as a fix pack instructions that are provided in Install the Software to upgrade to the 5.2.4.2 level.
  2. Upgrade your JDK version from the Classic JDK 1.6 to the J9 JDK 1.6. See the Sterling B2B Integrator 5.2.3 or higher iSeries Environment Upgrade documentation for instructions.
Version 5.2.3.0 is installed as the base release and it needs to be upgraded to the 5.2.4.2 level on an iSeries using IBM i V7R1. Follow the Installing Sterling B2B Integrator version 5.2.3 - 5.2.4.2 as a fix pack instructions that are provided in Install the Software.
Version 5.2.4.0 is being installed as the base release.
Note: Sterling B2B Integrator 5.2.4.0 can no longer be installed on an iSeries using IBM i (i5/OS) V5R4.
 Review this document and use the installation instructions in Install the Software.
Note: The SI_5050400.jar released in December 2013 automatically upgrades Sterling B2B Integrator to 5.2.4.2.
Version 5.2.4.0 is installed as the base release and it needs to be upgraded to the 5.2.4.1 level. Follow the Installing Sterling B2B Integrator version 5.2.3 - 5.2.4.2 as a fix pack instructions that are provided in Install the Software.
Version 5.2.4.0 or 5.2.4.1 is installed and it needs to be upgraded to the 5.2.4.2 level on an iSeries using IBM i (i5/OS) V5R4.
Note: This scenario requires an operating system upgrade. Sterling B2B Integrator 5.2.4.2 or higher is not supported on IBM i V5R4. After you install the Sterling B2B Integrator 5.2.4.2 fix pack, you must either upgrade your operating system or move your Sterling B2B Integrator instance to an iSeries using IBM i V6R1 or V7R1.
  1. Follow the Installing Sterling B2B Integrator version 5.2.3 - 5.2.4.2 as a fix pack instructions that are provided in Install the Software to upgrade to the 5.2.4.2 level.
  2. Upgrade your iSeries to IBM i V6R1 or V7R1, or move your Sterling B2B Integrator instance to an iSeries with the IBM i V6R1 or V7R1 operating system installed. You also must upgrade your JDK version from the Classic JDK 1.6 to the J9 JDK 1.6. See the Sterling B2B Integrator 5.2.3 or higher iSeries Environment Upgrade documentation for instructions.
Version 5.2.4.0 or 5.2.4.1 is installed as the base release and it needs to be upgraded to the 5.2.4.2 level on an iSeries using IBM i V6R1.
