Creating a partition based on an existing partition

You can use the Integrated Virtualization Manager to create a new partition that is based on an existing logical partition on the managed system.

Before you begin

Use any role other than View Only to perform this task.

Use this task to create a new partition that has the same properties as the selected existing partition, except for partition ID, partition name, and storage configuration.

About this task

To create a partition based on an existing partition, complete the following steps in the Integrated Virtualization Manager:

Procedure

  1. From the navigation area, select View/Modify Partitions under Partition Management. The View/Modify Partitions page is displayed.
  2. Select the partition that you want to use as the basis for the new partition.
  3. From the Tasks menu, click Create based on. The Create Based On page is displayed.
  4. Enter a name for the new partition and determine whether you want to create virtual disks for the new partition.
  5. Click OK. The View/Modify Partitions page is displayed and lists the new partition.
