Complete the following steps:
- Is the system an 8286-41A with
feature code EUA3 (internal USB docking station) installed?Note: If you do not know whether the system is an 8286-41A with feature code EUA3 installed, go to step 5.
- Yes: Go to step 6.
- No: Continue with the next step.
- Is a location code available in the serviceable event view for this field-replaceable unit
(FRU)?
- Yes: Go to step 5.
- No: Continue with the next step.
- Is the secondary code 00009913?
- Yes: Go to step 6.
- No: Continue with the next step.
- To determine the location of the USB port to which the external USB docking station is attached, go to USB_DEV symbolic FRU. Replace the USB docking station at the other end of the USB cable that is connected to the port location that you identified. For more information, see Part locations and location codes. Select your machine type and model number to find additional location codes, part numbers, or replacement procedures for your system. This ends the procedure.
- Does the location code end with "-INTERNAL" or is the
secondary code 00009913?
- Yes: The docking station is an internal USB docking station that is located in the front of the system unit. Continue with the next step.
- No: Determine the location of the USB port to which the device is attached by removing -Lx from the location code. Replace the USB docking station at the other end of the USB cable that is connected to the port location that you identified. For more information, see Part locations and location codes. Select your machine type and model number to find additional location codes, part numbers, or replacement procedures for your system. This ends the procedure.
- The docking station is connected to the USB adapter with an internal USB connection. Replace the internal USB docking station that is located in the front of the system unit. This ends the procedure.
