DRWRMOD

The I/O module in an EMX0 PCIe3 expansion drawer might be failing.

To determine the location of the I/O module, complete the following steps:

  1. Is a location code available in the serviceable event view for this failing item?
    • Yes: Continue with the next step.
    • No: Go to step 3.
  2. The location code in the serviceable event view is either a PCIe3 cable adapter in the system unit or an I/O module in an EMX0 PCIe3 expansion drawer. For information about locations, see Part locations and location codes. Is the location code in the serviceable event view the location of a PCIe3 cable adapter in the system unit?
    • Yes: Go to step 4 to find the location of the I/O module.
    • No: Go to step 5 to replace the I/O module at this location.
  3. To determine the location of the failing item, complete the following steps:
    1. Record the dynamic reconfiguration connector (DRC) index, which is word 7 of the B700xxxx reference code.
    2. The DRC index is of the form xxxxyyyy, where yyyy is the hexadecimal bus number. Using the hexadecimal bus number, go to Card positions to find the location of the PCIe3 cable adapter that is attached to the EMX0 PCIe3 expansion drawer that contains the failing item. Then, continue with the next step.
  4. Trace the expansion drawer cable from the PCIe3 cable adapter that was identified in the previous step to find the I/O module in the EMX0 PCIe3 expansion drawer. The location of the I/O module is either Un-P1 or Un-P2. Continue with the next step.
  5. Is the system managed by a management console?
    • Yes: Continue with the next step.
    • No: Go to step 9.
  6. Use the management console to replace the I/O module at the location that was identified in this procedure. Was the replacement procedure successful?
    • Yes: This ends the procedure.
    • No: Continue with the next step.
  7. Did the replacement procedure fail during the FRU level deactivate step before the hardware was replaced?
    • Yes: Continue with the next step.
    • No: Contact your next level of support. This ends the procedure.
  8. To replace the I/O module, complete the following steps:
    1. Use the management console to start the midplane replacement procedure at location Un-P3 of the EMX0 PCIe3 expansion drawer. During the procedure, replace the I/O module that was identified in this procedure. Do not replace the other I/O module or the midplane during the procedure.
    2. Trace the expansion drawer cable from the I/O module that was identified in this procedure to the PCIe3 cable adapter in the system unit. Use the management console to start the PCIe3 cable adapter replacement procedure at the location that you identified in the system unit. During the procedure, do not replace the PCIe3 cable adapter. The procedure recovers the EMX0 PCIe3 expansion drawer. This ends the procedure.
  9. Use the following table to determine the service action to perform.
Type and model Part number Description Location code Service action
EMX0 PCIe3 expansion drawer See System parts. I/O module Un-P1 or Un-P2 Replace the I/O module at the location that was identified in this procedure. For more information about EMX0 PCIe3 expansion drawer location codes and removal and replacement procedures, see EMX0 PCIe Gen3 I/O expansion drawer locations.

This ends the procedure.
