CBLALL

A cable might be the failing item.

If a location and part number is displayed on the control panel of a system or EMX0 PCIe3 expansion drawer, replace that FRU first.

For more information about failing part numbers, location codes, or removal and replacement procedures, see Part locations and location codes. Select your machine type and model number to see applicable procedures for your system.

Complete the following steps:

  1. Is the reference code 1xxx2613?
    • No: Continue with the next step.
    • Yes: Verify that the power supplies are plugged into the same line voltage (either 110 V ac or 220 V ac, or -48V dc if your system is configured to operate with this voltage). If not, correct it.

This error code can also be posted if the power supplies cannot support the hardware in the system. If the power supplies are plugged into 110 V ac, inform the customer that the power supplies must be plugged into 220 V ac. This ends the procedure.

  2. Is the reference code 1xxx8800, 1xxx8801, 1xxx8802, or 1xxx8803?
    • No: Continue with step 4.
    • Yes: Continue with the next step.
  3. Ensure that the following items are correct:
    • The GFSP interface cards (Un-P1-C9 and Un-P1-C10) are correctly installed in all system nodes that are present.
    • The UPIC cables are correctly connected to the system.
    This ends the procedure.
  4. Is there only one reference code 1xxx26A0, 1xxx26A1, 1xxx26A2, 1xxx26A3, 1xxx26B0, 1xxx26B1, 1xxx26B2, or 1xxx26B3 in the serviceable event view?
    • No: Continue with step 6.
    • Yes: Continue with the next step.
  5. Use the Hardware Management Console (HMC) to replace the following items one at a time until the problem is resolved. For information about replacing failing items by using the HMC, see Exchange FRU.
    • UPIC cables
Note: This item can be replaced with the system power turned on.
    • Power interface card
      Notes:
      1. For information about which power interface card to replace, see table 1.
      2. This item can be replaced with the system power turned on.
    • GFSP interface card 1 (Un-P1-C9)
    • GFSP interface card 2 (Un-P1-C10)
Table 1. Determining the power interface card to replace by using the reference code
Reference code Failing item name Location code
    110026A0 or 110026B0 Power interface card 1 Un-P1-C1
    110026A1 or 110026B1 Power interface card 2 Un-P1-C2
    110026A2 or 110026B2 Power interface card 3 Un-P1-C5
    110026A3 or 110026B3 Power interface card 4 Un-P1-C6
    This ends the procedure.
  6. Is there more than one reference code 1xxx26A0, 1xxx26A1, 1xxx26A2, 1xxx26A3, 1xxx26B0, 1xxx26B1, 1xxx26B2, or 1xxx26B3 in the serviceable event view?
    • No: Continue with the next failing item in the failing item list. This ends the procedure.
    • Yes: Continue with the next step.
  7. If the system is not powered on, power on the system. Then, continue with the next step.
  8. Power interface cards are grouped in pairs:
    • Power interface card 1 (Un-P1-C1) and power interface card 2 (Un-P1-C2)
    • Power interface card 3 (Un-P1-C5) and power interface card 4 (Un-P1-C6)

You can use the reference codes in the serviceable event view to determine which power interface card pair has the problem.

Table 2. Determining the power interface card pair by using the reference code
Reference code First power interface card pair Second power interface card pair
    110026A0 or 110026B0 Power interface card 1 (Un-P1-C1)
    110026A1 or 110026B1 Power interface card 2 (Un-P1-C2)
    110026A2 or 110026B2   Power interface card 3 (Un-P1-C5)
    110026A3 or 110026B3   Power interface card 4 (Un-P1-C6)

Are the green power LEDs on both power interface cards of a power interface card pair turned off?

    • No: Contact your next level of support. This ends the procedure.
    • Yes: Continue with the next step.
  9. With the system power still turned on, use the Hardware Management Console (HMC) to remove one of the power interface cards in the power interface card pair. For information about replacing failing items by using the HMC, see Exchange FRU. Does the green power LED of the remaining power interface card of the power interface card pair turn on?
    • Yes: The power interface card that you removed is failing. Replace the failing power interface card with a new power interface card. This ends the procedure.
    • No: Continue with the next step.
  10. Use the HMC to reinstall the power interface card that you removed in step 9. Wait for one minute. Then, with system power still turned on, use the HMC to remove the other power interface card of the power interface card pair. Does the green power LED of the power interface card of the power interface card pair turn on?
    • Yes: The power interface card that you removed is failing. Replace the failing power interface card with a new power interface card. This ends the procedure.
    • No: Continue with the next step.
  11. Use the HMC to remove each of the following items in the system control unit, one at a time. For information about replacing failing items by using the HMC, see Exchange FRU. After you remove an item, check the green power LEDs on both power interface cards of the power interface card pair. If the LEDs turn on, the last item that you removed is the failing item and must be replaced. If the LEDs do not turn on, reinstall the item and remove the next item in the list.
    • Fan 1 (Un-A1)
Note: This item can be replaced with the system power turned on.
    • Fan 2 (Un-A2)
Note: This item can be replaced with the system power turned on.
    • Fan 3 (Un-A3)
Note: This item can be replaced with the system power turned on.
    • Fan 4 (Un-A4)
Note: This item can be replaced with the system power turned on.
    • Real time clock battery card 1 (Un-P1-C3)
Note: This item can be replaced with the system power turned on.
    • Real time clock battery card 2 (Un-P1-C4)
Note: This item can be replaced with the system power turned on.
    • Control panel (Un-P1-C13)
Note: This item can be replaced with the system power turned on.
    • DVD (Un-P1-C11)
Note: Do not replace the DVD for problems that involve power interface card 3 (Un-P1-C5) and power interface card 4 (Un-P1-C6).
    • Clock card 1 (Un-P1-C8)
    • Clock card 2 (Un-P1-C9)
    • Service processor card 1 (Un-P1-C7)
    • Service processor card 2 (Un-P1-C10)
    • System VPD card (Un-P1-C12)
    • System backplane (Un-P1)
    This ends the procedure.
