Copying a dump by using a management console
You can copy a dump by using the Hardware Management Console (HMC).
Note: If you have a management console, you must manage your
platform dumps with the management console. However, you will need to manage IBM® i main storage dumps
with the IBM i service
tools.
To copy a dump on a HMC, choose one of the
following navigation options depending on the interface type of the HMC:
- If you are using an HMC Classic or HMC Enhanced interface,
complete the following steps:
- In the navigation area, click .
- To enable the tasks for that server, select the required server name.
- From the Tasks menu, click .
- Verify that the HMC that contains the dump is the HMC being used to copy the dump.
- In the Manage Dumps window, click .
- Load the media and follow the instructions on the display.
- When the copy procedure is successfully completed, remove the media and process it according to the instructions of your next level of support or your hardware service provider.
- If you encounter a problem with the copy procedure, contact your next level of support or your hardware service provider.
- If you are using an HMC Enhanced+ interface, complete the following steps:
- In the navigation area, click the HMC Management icon
, and then click All Systems. - To view the actions for that server, select the server name of the required server.
- In the navigation area, click .
- In the Serviceability window, under View and Collect, click Manage Dumps.
- Verify that the HMC that contains the dump is the HMC being used to copy the dump.
- In the Manage Dumps window, click .
- Load the media and follow the instructions on the display.
- When the copy procedure is successfully completed, remove the media and process it according to the instructions of your next level of support or your hardware service provider.
- If you encounter a problem with the copy procedure, contact your next level of support or your hardware service provider.
- In the navigation area, click the HMC Management icon
