You can use the Integrated Virtualization Manager to
view the information about the partitions that have virtual fibre
channel connections on your managed system. When a logical partition
is configured to use a virtual fibre channel connection, the partition
can communicate with storage devices in a storage area network (SAN).
The managed system must be configured to use a virtual fibre
channel before you can use this task to view logical partition connection
information for the physical ports.
The View Virtual Fibre Channel task provides the ability to
view partition connection information for the virtual fibre channel
configuration on the managed system. See the
Modifying the virtual fibre channel on the Integrated Virtualization Manager to learn how
to modify the physical port connections that logical. partitions use
to access a SAN.
To view partition connection information for your
virtual fibre channel configuration, complete the following steps
in the Integrated Virtualization Manager:
- In the navigation area, select View Virtual
Fibre Channel under I/O Adapter Management. The View Virtual Fibre Channel page is displayed.
- Use the physical port table to view the main properties
of the physical fibre channel ports that support N_Port ID Virtualization
(NPIV) on fibre channel adapters that are installed and connected
within your managed system.
The table provides the
name of the physical port, the physical location code for the port,
the number of partition connections, the available connections for
the port, and whether the port has the required fabric support for NPIV.
- To view which logical partitions have a connection to a
specific physical port, select the port and click View
Partition Connections. The Virtual Fibre
Channel Partition Connections page is displayed.
- Use the Connections table to view
which logical partitions are configured with a connection to the physical
port.
To add or remove a connection to a specific physical port
for a logical partition, or to change the port to which a logical
partition connects, use the View/Modify Partitions task.
You can use the tasks under Virtual Fibre Channel on
the Storage tab of the Properties page
to modify the connections for the logical partition.
