Installing the 8202-E4B, 8202-E4C, 8202-E4D, 8205-E6B, 8205-E6C, or 8205-E6D Slimline media device with the system power on in IBM i

Use this procedure to install a new media device with the system powered on.

Attention: If you are servicing a failing part, see the service procedures for Removing and replacing the 8202-E4B, 8202-E4C, 8202-E4D, 8205-E6B, 8205-E6C, or 8205-E6D Slimline media device with the system power on in IBM i. The following procedure is intended for installing a new or upgraded media device.

The power-on procedure is a complex set of steps that must be performed exactly to avoid potential data loss or system damage. You might also consider the powered-off procedure, which is a simpler task that involves less risk of data loss or system damage. For instructions, see Installing a Slimline media device in the 8202-E4B, 8202-E4C, 8202-E4D, 8205-E6B, 8205-E6C, or 8205-E6D.
