Getting I/O adapter and device firmware fixes for a system running AIX

Learn how to get I/O adapter and device firmware fixes for a system that is not managed by a management console and is running AIX® operating system.

The I/O adapter and device firmware is the part of the Licensed Internal Code that enables hardware, such as Ethernet PCI adapters or disk drives.

If you do not use a management console to manage your server, you must obtain your fixes through your operating system. In this situation, you can obtain I/O adapter and device firmware fixes using the AIX commands.
  1. Do you have AIX and use a management console to manage your system?
    • No: Continue with the next step.
    • Yes: You will need to apply I/O adapter and device firmware fixes through the management console. For details, see Managed system updates.
  2. From a computer or server with an Internet connection, go to the Fix Central website at http://www.ibm.com/support/fixcentral/.
  3. From the Product Group list, select Power.
  4. From the Product list, select your Machine Type-Model.
  5. From the Select from Machine Type-Model list, select the required fix and click Continue.
  6. Follow the on-screen instructions to download and install the I/O adapter and device firmware fixes to your system.
