You can configure the PowerVM® Active Memory™ Sharing by using either
the Hardware Management Console (HMC) or the Integrated Virtualization Manager (IVM).
To configure the Active Memory Sharing, complete the following tasks:
Create the paging devices on the Virtual I/O Server (VIOS)
Create the shared memory pool on the HMC or the IVM
Configure the shared memory partitions
Creating paging devices on the Virtual I/O Server
A paging device is required for each shared memory partition.
The size of the paging device must be equal to or larger than the
maximum logical memory defined in the partition profile.
Creating a shared memory partition
The process to create a shared memory partition is similar
to creating a partition with the dedicated memory. The only difference
is in the memory section of the Create LPAR wizard, where you must
select the shared memory for the partition.
