Defining the partition profile policy for inactive partition mobility

You can select the partition profile policy for inactive partition mobility in the Hardware Management Console (HMC). You can either select the partition state defined in the hypervisor, or select the configuration data defined in the last activated profile on the source server. By default, the partition state defined in the hypervisor is selected.

To define a policy for inactive partition mobility, complete the following tasks:

  1. In the navigation pane, open Systems Management and select Servers.
  2. In the work pane, select the source server.
  3. From the Tasks menu, select Properties.
  4. Click the Migration tab.
    • To use the partition state that is defined in the hypervisor for memory and processor-related settings, select Partition Configuration in the Inactive profile migration policy list. However, if you are unable to start the partition, the data defined in the last activated profile on the source server is used, even though you select the Partition Configuration option.
    • To use the data defined in the last activated profile on the source-managed system for memory and processor-related settings, select Last Activated Profile in the Inactive profile migration policy list.
  5. Click OK.
