APAR status

Error description

• When you syncronize IBM Rational ClearCase element versions from
  zOS to AIX, during the codec translation from 1388 to 5488,
  there are  some special Chinese characters, such as '$'  that
  appear as ?? after the merge operation.
  
  Once the versions are uploaded using the TSOC client, they will
  also appear as ??.

  * Description
    The convert of $?0x5B? to CP5488 $?0x24? was hard-coded in
  the implementation of 16729. That caused the problem that
  the Unicode service can not be customized. In CEB , both the
  file name and file content have the $ sign. They want the $
  to be converted to the same $ in AIX Chinese languages.
  

Problem conclusion

• A fix is available in ClearCase versions 7.1.1.8, 7.1.2.5
  and 8.0.0.1
