Error description
Message IDAI1001E PUT FAILED, ERROR FOUND WHILE UPDATING THE INDEX with a RPL Feedback Code of 0108006D after installing the PTFs for OA49513 and using Hiperspace Buffers. Additional Symptoms: For IMS user of VSAM LSR with Hiperspace Buffers: IMS user abends: U852/U0852 U853/U0853 U427/U0427 U845/U0845 RC31 or RC36 IMS messages: DFS0427I LOGICAL ERROR V9C DFS0427I LOGICAL ERROR ON db_name ERROR CODE V18 DFS0832I ABEND U0853 REASON CODE N/A DATABASE DFS0832I ABEND U0427 REASON CODE N/A PARTITION DFS1058E - REASON = 031 - VSI UPDATE FAILED DFS0442A VSAM RDF/CIDF BAD DBD= db_name DD= dd_name CICS: EXEC CICS READ received "NOTFND" for a record in data set that is open in LSR mode with Hiperspace Buffers. Accessing the data set with another tool shows the record requested. OTHER SYMPTOMS: PUT against a cluster using an LSR buffer pool gets RPLFDBK D708xx9C.
Local fix
Remove the PTFs for OA49513. These are UA80640 UA80641 UA80642 Or Remove Hiperspace Buffers from those applications that use VSAM LSR with Hiperspace buffers.(Sometimes you will see HBUFNI= or HBUFND= in the AMP keyword or the SUBSYS keyword on the DD card for the cluster in the job. Remove HBUFNI and HBUFND, hiperspace buffers) Or Install ++apar or PTFs for OA50329 when available
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: Any VSAM users who specify hiperspace * * buffers for their LSR buffer pool. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Various abends, messages and/or broken * * data sets can occur when using * * hiperspace buffers in an LSR pool after * * PTF UA80641, UA80642 or UA80643 is * * applied. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Apply PTFs. * **************************************************************** The return code is always set to zero when accessing hiperspace buffers even if there was an error. This can result in downlevel buffers which cause corruption and unpredictable results when processing the data sets.
Problem conclusion
The return code when accessing the hiperspace buffers will now be correctly propagated.
