Content

Prerequisites and supported products

This package updates Maximo Asset Health Insights. The changes were completed for the May, 2018 release of version 7.6.0.4.

To install this fix pack, you must already have the following products installed:

  • IBM Maximo Asset Management 7.6.0.8 or higher
  • Maximo Asset Health Insights 7.6.0.0 or higher

Installation Manager detects the products that are already installed.

If you do not have Maximo Asset Management 7.6.0.8 or higher installed, you can download and install Maximo Asset Management 7.6.0.8 from the IBM® Support Portal:

  1. Navigate to the IBM Support Portal (www.ibm.com/support/entry/portal/support) and, in the Product Finder menu, select Maximo Asset Management.
  2. Select 7.6 and, from the Downloads section, select the 7.6.0.8 fix pack.
  3. Enter your IBM ID and password if requested, and save the fix pack compressed file to a local directory.

What's new in this fix pack

Connecting to an IoT service
You can now choose how to bring data into Maximo Asset Health Insights for analysis by configuring a connection to an IoT service, such as IBM Watson IoT Platform or AT&T Asset Management - Operations Center.

When you configure an IoT integration platform that is not the IBM Watson IoT Platform, you must have 7.6.0.9  MIF IF001 or later installed on Maximo Asset Management 7.6.0.9. This fix is required for meter reading charts to work on the Meter Reading tab.

Repair or replace
On the Plans tab, you can view the health of assets or objects over the next 5 years to determine when you need to repair or replace assets or locations. You can enter the associated costs and view the total estimated costs associated with the repairs or replacements for a year. On the Implement tab, you can create work orders based on the 5 year view.

For export functionality to work on Plans tab, you must have 7.6.0.8 MIF IF006 or later installed on Maximo Asset Management 7.6.0.8 or 7.6.0.9 MIF IF001 or later installed on Maximo Asset Management 7.6.0.9.

Sample data
When you create factors, methods, or drivers, you can now view or modify samples that are based on different meter types to create new factors, methods, or drivers more easily.

Resolved issues

There were no external defects resolved in this release.

The following behavior change was added in this release.

A new system property, mxe.sheets.assetmetermap, was added and can be accessed in the System Properties application. This property specifies whether devices are mapped to assets or asset meters when the device is associated on the Associate Devices tab. Valid values for the property are Asset and Meter. The default value for the property is meter.

Pre-Installation considerations

Before you begin, complete the following tasks:

  • Back up the middleware servers and the administrative workstation.
  • If you created custom reports, back up your report design source directory.
  • Prepare the application server for the installation:
  • If you are using a WebSphere® Application Server, ensure that the application server is started. The installation program connects to the application server by using the login information that you specify.
  • If you are using an Oracle WebLogic Server, ensure that the MAXIMOSERVER application server is stopped. If the application server is running, stop the server and wait a few minutes before you start the installation program. If the application server is running, the installation process cannot proceed.

Installation instructions

Use Installation Manager to connect to a repository location and install the fix pack.

Before you begin

Due to a change in the digital certificate used to sign Windows executable files in the Installation Manager, you may experience problems running the installation manager on Microsoft Windows machines. Follow these instructions to upgrade to version 1.8.5.1 of Windows IBM Installation Manager.

The installation process requires two updates. You must update the Maximo-X file before you can install Maximo Asset Health Insights 7.6.0.4. The correct Maximo-X file for Maximo Asset Health Insights 7.6.0.4 is MAXIMO_X_FOR_AHI_FP7604.

If you are installing Maximo Asset Health Insights 7.6.0.4 on Maximo Asset Management 7.6.1, you must also update the IoT7601 file. For more information about updating the IoT7601 file, see Updating the Maximo IoT file.

Updating the Maximo-X file

Procedure

  1. Ensure that no database configuration changes are pending.
  2. Shut down the Maximo application server.
  3. Back up the database.
  4. Back up the Maximo directory.
  5. Extract the files into the install_home folder and select the Overwrite existing files and the Use folder names options.
  6. Run the updatedb.bat utility to run all the interim fix database scripts:
    1. At a DOS prompt, change the directory to install_home\tools\maximo, for example, c:\IBM\SMP\maximo\tools\maximo.
    2. Run updatedb.bat.
    3. Run configdb.bat.
  7. Delete the application server cache, for example:
    • Oracle WebLogic Server: BEA_Root\user_projects\domains\mydomain\MAXIMOSERVER\.wlnotdelete
    • IBM WebSphere® Application Server: WebSphere_Root\AppServer\profiles\Custom01\temp\machinenameNode01\MAXIMOSERVER
  8. Delete the browser cache on every computer that uses the product.
