Installing the mobile app for IBM Maximo Asset Configuration Manager on Mac OS X

Question & Answer

Question

How do you install the mobile app for IBM® Maximo® Asset Configuration Manager on Mac OS X?

Answer

Introduction

The mobile app that is available with Maximo Asset Configuration Manager is IBM Maximo Anywhere Work Execution for Complex Assets.

The app can be built and deployed on iOS mobile devices. However, the launchpad program is not supported on Mac OS X computers, where the app must first be installed, built, and deployed.

To install the app on a Mac OS X computer, you must start IBM Installation Manager manually.

Prerequisites

The following products must already be installed on the administrative workstation:

  • IBM Maximo Asset Management 7.6.0.7
  • IBM Maximo for Aviation 7.6.5
  • IBM Maximo Anywhere 7.6.1 and its interim fix.

Ensure that you completed steps 1-6 in the procedure Installing the mobile apps (http://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SS5RRF_7.6.5/com.ibm.mavmins.doc/install/t_install_anywhere_app.html). You must install the required components, which include OSLC updates, on the computer where Maximo Asset Configuration Manager is installed.

To build and deploy the app on a Mac OS X computer, you must install prerequisite software. Register as an Apple developer and install the following development tools:
  • Xcode IDE
  • Apple Developer Certificate and provisioning profile
  • Oracle Java
  • Eclipse IDE

For instructions and links to download the tools, see the information about installing the iOS development tools in IBM Knowledge Center (http://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSPJLC_7.6.1/com.ibm.si.mpl.doc/install/t_install_ios_dev_tools.html).
