Server timeout error message when starting a server in profiling mode

Troubleshooting


Problem

Consider that you are working with Rational Application Developer version 7.5.5.1 and are trying to start a WebSphere Application Server Test Environment v6.1.0.19 in profiling mode and you are getting a message box with server timeout error message.

Symptom

The error message you might get is

Problem Occurred

'Starting WebSphere Application Server v6.1 at

localhost' has encountered a problem.

Server WebSpere Application Server v6.1 at

localhost was unable to start within 600 seconds.

If the server requires more time, try increasing the timeout in the server editor.

Resolving The Problem

Check the native-stderr.log file. By default it is in:
C:\Program Files\IBM\SDP\runtimes\base_v61\profiles\was61profile1\logs\server1.

If you see:

The java class is not found: "-agentpath:C:\Program

This is a known issue with WebSphere Application Server v6.1.0.19 and the fix is in WebSphere Application Server v 6.1.0.27. Updating the server to this version will resolve the issue.
