APAR status

Error description

• A promotion configured on the Staging server to run on a
  particular date or time of day may not run during the specified
  time period when this promotion is evaluated on the Production
  server. This can occur if the Production server has a different
  time zo
  ne than the Staging server. This is because a promotion is
  evaluated according to the server time zone. Different server
  time zones will result in the same promotion running during
  different time periods.
  

Local fix

• If both the Staging and Production servers have the same time
  zone, then the promotion will run during the expected time
  period.
  

Problem summary

• USERS AFFECTED:
   Customers who have different time zones set up on their Staging
  and Production servers.
  
   PROBLEM ABSTRACT:
   Promotion runs on production server at a different time than
  what was specified in staging server using Management Center
  
   BUSINESS IMPACT:
   Promotion may not be applicable during the specified time
  period. It may expire early or late depending upon the time zone
  settings.
  
   RECOMMENDATION:
  

Problem conclusion

• The promotion start date, end date, start time of day and end
  time of day field values will be converted to UTC (Coordinated
  Universal Time) before they are saved to the promotion runtime
  XML (PX_PROMOTION.XMLPARAM). When this promotion is propagated
  to the Production server, then these dates will be read and
  interpreted in UTC. This will keep the time zone conditions
  consistent on the Staging and Production servers. A promotion
  defined in Management Center on the Staging server to run during
  a specified time period will run during the same time period on
  the Production server.
  
   To enable this feature, navigate to the promotion component
  configuration file:
   WC_eardir\\xml\\config\\com.ibm.commerce.promotion\\wc-admin-co
  mponent.xml
  
   Follow the customization steps and indicate a value of "true"
  for the flag named "ConvertPromotionDatesToUTC". For example:
   <_config:property name="ConvertPromotionDatesToUTC"
