Error description

  • The actual material cost attribute on the
Work Order table is being calculated incorrectly when and
inventory item is issued to a work order where the number of
items issued spans across cost layers with the same price.
    STEPS TO REPLICATE:
1- Go to the Asset application. Create a new asset. Set the
    type to
    PRODUCTION.
Set the location to a REPAIR location. Set the rotating item to
    a valid
    value.
Set any other required values. Change the status to OPERATING
    and save
    the asset.
2- Go to Item Master and create a new item. Activate and save
    the item.
3- Add the item just created to a storeroom. The item will have
    a cost
    type of FIFO.
Enter a default bin. Enter a unit cost of 1.00 and a current
    balance
    of 5. Click OK.
4- Go to inventory and bring up the item just added to the
storeroom. In the More Actions section, select Inventory
    Adjustments,Current Balance.
On the first window, Current Balance Adjustment dialog, enter a
new balance of 10. On the second window, Specify Inventory
Costs, enter the price of 1.00 on the 5 items we just
adjusted for. Now our FIFO item has 2 cost layers.
5 items at 1.00 and another layer of 5 items at 1.00.
5- Go to Work Order Tracking and create a new work order. Enter
    the
    asset we created in
the first step. Please note the Charge to Store flag is checked
properly. Save and approve the work order.
6- Go to the actuals tab on the work order. On the Materials
    subtab,
issue 1 of the inventory items we
created previously. Save the work order. A transaction was
    created for the inventory
    layer it issued from properly.
7- Complete and close the work order.
8- In the More Actions section, select View Work Order
Costs. The Material Cost on this is incorrect.
We issued 1 items to the work order. With FIFO costing, those
items were valued at 1.00. This is displaying 2.00.
9- Go to the asset record. This also displays an Inventory cost
value of 2.00. This is also incorrect. It should be 1.00.
10- Now in the common actions on the asset, select Move Modify
    Assets.
The value being moved back into the storeroom will be 2.00
which is incorrect. We have only issued 6.00 worth of material
to the asset. Therefore, our Global Rotating Suspense account
will be out of balance by 1.00.
    CURRENT ERRONEOUS RESULT:
-With FIFO costing, those items were valued at 1.00. This is
    displaying 2.00.
-Go to the asset record. This also displays an Inventory cost
    value of 2.00.
    EXPECTED RESULT:
This values are incorrect. It should be 1.00.
