APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When new nodes are being added to a network view, these nodes
are placed based on an algorithm, that the API provider Tom
Sawyer implemented. Instead of using this algorithm, new nodes
should be placed into a default location, let's say lower right
corner (or whereever, but default), so that a cusomter can put
these nodes wherever they want them to appear.
Our customer arranges network views according to a view, that
all their operators recognize. Now if new nodes a placed in this
view, it affects some of the other nodes, resulting in a new
(different) layout.

Problem conclusion

  • Java code change code to specifically place new nodes at the top
or bottom
of existing graphs (when topoviz property
topoviz.node.freezeold=true) to prevent the Tom Sawyer
layout algorithm from moving existing nodes.
