IT30085: HSM FOR WINDOWS RECALL SERVICE CRASHES IF A STUB FILE IS RECALLED SIMULTANEOUSLY BY TWO USERS

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• The IBM Spectrum Protect HSM for Windows recall service
  (hsmservice.exe) crashes if a stub file is recalled by
  different users or applications at the same time. The first
  recall request is processed and the second recall request
  is correctly canceled by the driver, but the hsmservice does
  not handle the cancelation correctly and crashes.
  

Local fix

• Restart the hsmservice.exe.

Problem conclusion

• The problem has been fixed. The hsmservice handles the
  cancelation of the second recall of the same file correctly.
